The 2026 Ken Lake Ballot
How to submit your ballot in the 2026 election for the board of directors.
Rules for Voting
Membership is tied to the land. Every lot in Ken Lake has one vote in our association, the Lakemoor Community Club. Those votes must be used by a member, and membership is defined by home ownership.
This means that neighbors owning more than one lot receive a vote for each lot.
Neighbors may also carry proxies - proxies allow a designee to vote instead of the homeowner, and must be filed in advance. Contact VIS to learn more about proxies.
A note on quorumA quorum is the number of votes required to conduct business. currently, Ken Lake requires 50% quorum equal or greater than 50% of all votes in order to validate election results. In previous years, the board has chosen to honor membership votes even when the quorum failed. Currently, the bylaws committee is proposing reducing the quorum to 20%, which is the default set by new WUCIOA laws. At 20%, every one of Ken Lake's elections would have achieved quorum. Every vote matters, not just the ones that achieve quorum. There are only 289 ballots in Ken Lake & you get to decide who stewards our lake. |
Filling Out Your Ballot
Circle three candidates - successful candidates will be on the board for a two-year term.
If you have someone else in mind, you may also write-in a candidate in the empty space, as long as you submit no more than 3 candidates.
You do not need your lot number if you provide your address. You may also provide your lot number; VIS will be verifying ballots as they are submitted.
If you would like to confirm your lot number, the fastest way to do that is to call VIS.
This is why VIS has a deadline of November 10 for mail-in ballots and November 13 for emailed ballots.
Mail In
As always, neighbors can submit their ballot by mail, with the envelope provided by VIS.
Neighbors can also take a picture of their ballot and email it to VIS directly at info@vismanagement.com. VIS has asked that ballots be scanned and emailed this year. Our ballot was accepted as a photo.
When emailed, you may ask VIS to confirm that your vote has been counted.
Vote on the Budget
A budget is automatically approved unless 51% of eligible votes (146 votes) disapprove the budget included in your election packets.
This year, the finance committee worked on the budget in June and held a town hall for neighbors. The budget has not shifted much from last year, though please reach out if you have questions and we will see if we have an answer: friendsofkenlake@gmail.com.
