Dear Neighbors,
My name is Evan Clifthorne, and about a year ago I teamed up with a handful of Ken Lake neighbors to establish the Friends of Ken Lake as a booster club for our unique and beautiful community. We figured that if you can have a booster club for sports, the arts, the sciences, and even non-profits, then why couldn't we also have a booster club for a neighborhood?
We founded this group to support and advocate for Ken Lake community members around five key areas of focus:
We're working to achieve our goals by listening to homeowners, by helping to develop solutions, and by recruiting volunteers to engage with Ken Lake committees and the board. As we move forward, we also hope to help increase connections between neighbors, and to support homeowner interest in leaving a legacy for future generations in our community.
Ken Lake Elections are Upon Us.
It's election time again, and we hope you'll take a minute to get to know the candidates associated with Friends of Ken Lake, including Elle Burger, Paul Pearson, and myself. Over the next few days, your ballots should arrive by email and by mail, and will include statements from seven candidates running in total.
You can meet candidates at a privately hosted Candidate Forum on November 6th, then join us for an Annual Meeting Watch Party when the votes are counted on November 18th.
With so many candidates running, your vote truly matters! If you have any trouble locating or filling out your ballot, we urge you to contact VIS as soon as possible. You can also reach out to us directly, and we are happy to help point you in the right direction.
Your ballots will also ask you to vote up or down on the board's proposed 2026 budget.
Friends of Ken Lake has reviewed the board's proposal, and we hope you'll consider voting not to ratify because the board's proposal seeks to raise dues without fully examining our spending. While dues increases are sometimes necessary, we believe they should be connected to concrete programs and investments, rather than unnecessary budget creep.
We're grateful for your attention to the Ken Lake community, and we hope you'll consider joining our booster club!
The Friends of Ken Lake is open to all homeowners and candidates who wish to affiliate with us, and there are no requirements for joining. You can sign up here to join us, follow along, or share your story.
Thank you for being a part of the Ken Lake community, and thank you for your support!
in Service,
Evan Clifthorne
